Afghan & Pakistani Tribal Elders To Hold Jirga On Torkham Border Reopening

In an effort to ease tensions and facilitate the reopening of the Torkham border crossing, a joint jirga comprising tribal elders and traders from both Pakistan and Afghanistan is set to convene today.

According to sources, the Afghan delegation consists of 41 members. Pakistan has also assembled a group of influential tribal elders and trade representatives to participate in the negotiations.

The jirga is scheduled to take place on Sunday, 9 March, in Torkham. Further details regarding the discussions and potential outcomes have not yet been disclosed.
