UNAMA Urges Transparent Investigation into Shooting of Afghan Migrants in Iran
The United Nations Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) has called for a thorough and transparent investigation into reports of Afghan migrants being shot in Iran’s Sistan and Baluchistan border region.
In a statement released on Thursday, 17 October, UNAMA expressed alarm over reports that the shooting resulted in multiple casualties, including both deaths and injuries.
UNAMA underscored the importance of protecting the rights of migrants and asylum seekers, as enshrined in international law, and emphasised the need for accountability in this incident.
