Pressurise TTP Not To Announce Spring Offensive, Pakistani Delegation Tells Taliban

Diplomatic sources told Afghanistan International that Islamabad has asked the Taliban in Afghanistan to pressurise Tahreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) not to announce spring operations. According to sources, Islamabad has evidence that the leaders of TTP are based in Afghanistan.

Pakistan's Defense Minister Khawaja Mohammad Asif and ISI chief, General Nadeem Anjum visited Kabul on Wednesday and held talks with the Taliban officials.

The visit took place while the TTP has increased attacks on Pakistani targets.

Sources said that the Afghan Taliban have not revealed the main purpose of the Pakistani delegation's visit to Kabul. According to Afghanistan International’s sources, TTP has been one of the main issues of discussion of the two sides.

Pakistan's Foreign Ministry announced in a statement on Wednesday that during the visit of the ISI chief and Pakistan's defense minister to Afghanistan, an agreement had been reached on the joint fight against the TTP and Islamic State – Khurasan (IS-K) in Afghanistan.

Diplomatic sources also told Afghanistan International that the Pakistani delegation insisted that the Afghan Taliban must take bold steps against the TTP in Afghanistan.
