Deportation Of Afghan Immigrants Was Correct, Says Pakistan’s PM
Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar, the interim Prime Minister of Pakistan, once again emphasised that the decision to deport undocumented Afghan immigrants from the country was correct and said that the next government should continue the process.
Kakar added that Afghans who enter Pakistan must have a visa.
On Friday, during an interview with a private Pakistani television channel on the eve of the country's elections, he questioned the notion of allowing foreign citizens to enter a country without a passport.
Pakistani Samaa TV reported on Friday, that 475,603 Afghans have been deported from Pakistan since the start of the process to deport immigrants without legal documentation.
The media reported that the deportation process continues.
According to Samaa TV, about 647 Afghans, including 186 men, 145 women, and 316 children, returned to Afghanistan from Pakistan on Thursday.
On October 3, the government of Pakistan set a deadline of November 1 for immigrants without documents to leave the country. After the deadline, Pakistan started house-to-house search operations to arrest and deport a large number of Afghan refugees.
Although Pakistan's action has faced widespread international criticism, the country continues to deport Afghan refugees.
